Iran Holds Military Drills Ahead of Trump’s State of the Union Address

February 25, 2026
in Americas

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) recently conducted military drills, including tests for new weapons, just hours before President Donald Trump’s State of the Union (SOTU) address. This move comes amidst ongoing negotiations between Iran and the United States, with tensions between the two nations reaching a boiling point.

The IRGC, a powerful military force within Iran, has been at the forefront of the country’s revolutionary efforts since its establishment in 1979. The organization is responsible for safeguarding the country’s Islamic system and has played a significant role in shaping Iran’s foreign policy.

The latest military drills, named “Great Prophet 16,” were held in the central desert region of Iran and involved various units of the IRGC. The exercises were designed to showcase Iran’s military might and test the capabilities of new weapons, including missiles, drones, and electronic warfare systems.

The timing of these drills is significant, as it coincides with top Iranian military official Ali Larijani’s preparation to deliver Iran’s response to the ongoing negotiations with the United States. The two nations have been engaged in talks to revive the 2015 nuclear deal, which was abandoned by the US in 2018. The deal aimed to curb Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of economic sanctions.

While the US has been pushing for a tougher stance on Iran, the Islamic Republic has remained firm in its demands for the removal of all sanctions imposed by the previous administration. This has led to a stalemate in negotiations, with both sides refusing to budge.

In the midst of these tense negotiations, the IRGC’s military drills serve as a reminder to the world that Iran will not back down in the face of pressure from the US. The country’s determination to protect its sovereignty and defend its interests is unwavering, as demonstrated by the IRGC’s display of strength.

The drills also send a clear message to the US that Iran is fully capable of defending itself and will not hesitate to respond to any aggression. The IRGC, with its highly trained and well-equipped forces, stands ready to defend the nation against any threat.

As President Trump delivers his final SOTU address, the IRGC’s military drills serve as a reminder of the impact of his administration’s policies on Iran. The withdrawal from the nuclear deal and the reimposition of sanctions have severely affected the Iranian economy, leading to widespread hardship amongst the people.

However, despite the challenges, Iran remains resilient, and the IRGC’s display of strength is a testament to the country’s determination to overcome any obstacles. The military exercises also serve as a morale boost for the Iranian people, who have been enduring the effects of the sanctions.

In his speech, President Trump is expected to address the ongoing negotiations with Iran and his administration’s efforts to counter the country’s influence in the region. However, the IRGC’s military drills serve as a reminder that Iran will not be intimidated, and any attempt to undermine its sovereignty will be met with a strong response.

The world must take note of Iran’s message, as the country has proven time and again that it will not be cowed by external pressure. The IRGC’s military drills serve as a warning to those who seek to harm Iran and its people, that the country is capable of defending itself and will not hesitate to do so.

In conclusion, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has once again demonstrated its strength and determination by conducting military drills ahead of President Trump’s SOTU address. The exercises serve as a reminder to the world of Iran’s unwavering commitment to protect its sovereignty and defend its interests. As the negotiations with the US continue, the IRGC’s display of military might sends a clear message that Iran will not back down and will remain a force to be reckoned with in the region.
