Nolte: Free Premiere of Trump-Hating ‘Star Trek: Starfleet Academy’ Bombs

in Americas

Paramount+ recently made a bold move by offering the premiere episode of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy for free. This highly anticipated series, which is set in the iconic Star Trek universe, was met with much excitement and anticipation from fans all over the world. However, after a full day of being available for free, the episode only managed to amass a mere 81,000 views. This has caused some to question the success of the show and its potential future.

The news of the low viewership numbers was first reported by Breitbart’s John Nolte, who wasted no time in labeling the premiere as a “bomb”. Nolte also took the opportunity to point out that the show is “Trump-hating”, insinuating that this may have played a role in its lackluster performance. However, is this really the case? Let’s take a closer look at the situation.

First and foremost, it’s important to note that the premiere episode was only available for free for a limited time. This means that the 81,000 views were accumulated in just one day, which is not a fair representation of the show’s potential viewership. Many fans may have missed the opportunity to watch the episode for free and are waiting for it to become available on the streaming platform. Therefore, it’s premature to label the show as a failure based on one day’s worth of views.

Furthermore, the Star Trek franchise has a loyal and dedicated fan base that has been eagerly awaiting the release of Starfleet Academy. These fans are known for their love and passion for the series, and it’s safe to say that they will not be deterred by negative reviews or political affiliations. They will continue to support the show and give it a chance to prove itself.

It’s also worth mentioning that the Star Trek universe has always been known for its progressive and inclusive values. The show has always tackled important social and political issues, and this has been a major factor in its success. Therefore, it’s not surprising that the show may have a political undertone, as it stays true to the core values of the franchise. This should not be seen as a negative aspect, but rather as a reflection of the show’s commitment to diversity and inclusivity.

Moreover, the success of a show cannot be solely measured by its initial viewership numbers. In today’s digital age, where streaming services are dominating the entertainment industry, it’s important to look at the bigger picture. The success of a show is determined by its overall viewership, which includes views on the streaming platform, as well as DVD and merchandise sales. Therefore, it’s unfair to label Starfleet Academy as a failure based on one day’s worth of views.

In conclusion, it’s too early to judge the success of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy based on its premiere episode’s viewership numbers. The show has a loyal fan base and a rich history of success, and it’s unfair to dismiss it based on one day’s worth of views. Paramount+ should be commended for taking a bold step in offering the premiere episode for free, and we should all give the show a chance to prove itself. Let’s not jump to conclusions and instead, let’s support and celebrate the diversity and inclusivity that the Star Trek franchise has always stood for.
