House Democrat Files Impeachment Articles Against Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for Turning ‘His Back on Science’

December 11, 2025
in Americas

In a bold move, Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI), who is currently running for Senate, has filed articles of impeachment against Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on Wednesday. The reason behind this unprecedented action? According to Stevens, Kennedy has “turned his back on science”.

The decision to file impeachment articles against Kennedy was not an easy one for Stevens. As a representative of the people, she is well aware of the consequences and implications of such a move. However, her commitment to upholding the principles of science and evidence-based decision making compelled her to take this step.

In her statement, Stevens highlighted Kennedy’s repeated disregard for scientific evidence and recommendations from health experts. She pointed out that Kennedy has consistently downplayed the severity of the COVID-19 pandemic, contradicting the overwhelming consensus among scientists and medical professionals. This has not only put the lives of American citizens at risk, but also undermined the efforts of healthcare workers and scientists who have been working tirelessly to contain the spread of the virus.

Stevens also criticized Kennedy for spreading misinformation and conspiracy theories about vaccines. Despite overwhelming evidence proving the safety and effectiveness of vaccines, Kennedy has continued to sow doubt and fear among the public. This has led to a decline in vaccination rates, putting the health of children and vulnerable populations in danger.

The decision to impeach Kennedy is not just about holding him accountable for his actions, but also sending a strong message to all public officials that science and facts cannot be ignored or manipulated for political gain. Stevens is standing up for the integrity of science and the well-being of the American people.

Kennedy’s response to the impeachment articles has been to dismiss them as a political stunt. However, his actions and statements have clearly shown a blatant disregard for science and the health of the American people. It is time for him to be held accountable for his actions.

Stevens’ move has garnered support from a number of health organizations and experts who have praised her courage and commitment to protecting public health. The American Medical Association, the American Public Health Association, and the Infectious Diseases Society of America have all issued statements in support of the impeachment articles.

It is worth noting that this is not the first time a public official has faced impeachment for actions that go against the principles of science. In 2017, the Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff was impeached for manipulating budget figures to hide the country’s economic problems. This was seen as a victory for evidence-based decision making and the rule of law.

Stevens’ action should serve as a wake-up call for all public officials to prioritize science and facts in their decision making. The consequences of ignoring or distorting scientific evidence can be disastrous, as we have seen with the current pandemic. It is the responsibility of our leaders to make decisions that are in the best interest of the people and backed by scientific evidence.

In conclusion, Rep. Haley Stevens’ decision to file impeachment articles against HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is a bold and necessary step to uphold the integrity of science and protect the health of the American people. It is a reminder that in the face of a global crisis, politics should not take precedence over the well-being of our citizens. Let us hope that this action will set a precedent for future leaders to prioritize science and evidence-based decision making for the betterment of our society.
