Rep. Jim Jordan Refers Former CIA Director John Brennan to DOJ for ‘Criminal Prosecution’ Over False Statements Regarding Steele Dossier

in Americas

In a surprising turn of events, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) has referred former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director John Brennan to the Department of Justice (DOJ) for potential criminal prosecution. This comes after Jordan discovered that Brennan may have made false statements regarding the infamous Russian “Steele Dossier.”

The Steele Dossier, compiled by former British spy Christopher Steele, was a collection of unverified and salacious allegations against then-candidate Donald Trump. This dossier was later used by the FBI in their investigation of alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.

However, in his testimony before Congress, Brennan had repeatedly claimed that the dossier played no role in the FBI’s decision to open the investigation. This statement has since been contradicted by several high-ranking officials, including former FBI Director James Comey and former Deputy Director Andrew McCabe.

The inconsistencies in Brennan’s statements have raised serious questions about the validity of the dossier and the motives behind its use in the investigation. And now, thanks to Rep. Jordan’s referral, the DOJ will have the opportunity to thoroughly investigate and potentially prosecute Brennan for his false statements.

This move by Jordan has been met with widespread support from both Republicans and Democrats, as it highlights the need for transparency and accountability within our government. In a statement, Jordan said, “In the course of investigating the FBI’s and DOJ’s actions in the 2016 presidential election, I have come to the conclusion that former Director Brennan has been misleading the American people.”

This is not the first time that Brennan has faced accusations of misleading the public. In 2014, he was forced to apologize and acknowledge that the CIA had in fact spied on Senate staffers. And now, with this referral to the DOJ, it appears that Brennan’s past actions have finally caught up to him.

Some may argue that Jordan’s referral is a political move, as he has been a vocal critic of the FBI’s handling of the Russia investigation. But regardless of one’s political affiliations, the fact remains that Brennan’s potential false statements must be thoroughly investigated.

The American people deserve to know the truth about the Steele Dossier and the role it played in the FBI’s investigation. And if it is found that Brennan knowingly made false statements, he must face the consequences.

This referral also serves as a reminder that those in positions of power are not above the law. The DOJ must hold all individuals accountable for their actions, regardless of their political affiliations or past accomplishments.

In the words of Rep. Jordan, “The American people have a right to know if former Director Brennan made false statements to them and to Congress about the Steele dossier.”

The fact that Rep. Jordan, a respected member of Congress, has taken this bold step to refer Brennan to the DOJ is a clear indication that the investigation into potential government misconduct will not be swept under the rug. It shows that there are still individuals in our government who are committed to upholding the truth and holding those in power accountable.

In the end, this referral is not just about John Brennan or the Steele Dossier. It is about restoring faith in our government and ensuring that the American people can trust in the integrity of our institutions. It is about sending a message that no one is above the law and that those who abuse their power will be held accountable.

As the DOJ begins its investigation into Brennan’s potential false statements, let us hope that this leads to a full and transparent examination of the events surrounding the Steele Dossier. The American people deserve nothing less.

Representative Jordan’s referral of John Brennan to the DOJ is a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the Russia probe. It is a step towards uncovering the truth and holding those responsible for any wrongdoing accountable. And most importantly, it is a triumph for justice and transparency in our government.
