Russia-Ukraine peace not closer after Alaska summit: Kremlin

October 3, 2025
in Europe

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has once again highlighted the ongoing challenges facing the world in achieving peace, despite the recent Russia-U.S. summit in Alaska. Speaking on Thursday, Peskov emphasized that the global community is still far from reaching a state of peace and stability.

In his statement, Peskov pointed out that Europe, in particular, has been actively encouraging the pursuit of peace and cooperation between nations. However, he also acknowledged that there are still many obstacles and conflicts that need to be addressed before true peace can be achieved.

The Russia-U.S. summit, which took place in March, was seen as a significant step towards improving relations between the two superpowers. Both sides expressed a desire to work towards a more cooperative and peaceful future, with discussions focusing on issues such as arms control, climate change, and the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, despite the positive outcomes of the summit, Peskov’s comments serve as a reminder that there is still a long way to go in achieving lasting peace on a global scale. The world continues to face numerous challenges, including ongoing conflicts, economic instability, and the rise of extremism and terrorism.

One of the key factors hindering the pursuit of peace is the lack of trust between nations. In recent years, tensions between Russia and the West have escalated, with both sides accusing each other of aggressive actions and interference in domestic affairs. This has created a sense of mistrust and suspicion, making it difficult to establish meaningful dialogue and cooperation.

Furthermore, the COVID-19 pandemic has also highlighted the need for international cooperation and solidarity. The virus knows no borders and has affected every corner of the globe, making it clear that no nation can tackle such a crisis alone. Yet, despite this, we have seen a rise in nationalism and protectionism, which only serves to further divide nations and hinder efforts towards peace and cooperation.

In light of these challenges, Peskov’s words serve as a call to action for the international community. It is crucial that we work together to overcome our differences and find common ground in pursuit of a more peaceful world.

One way to achieve this is through open and honest communication. Dialogue is essential in building trust and understanding between nations. It allows for the exchange of ideas and perspectives, which can lead to finding solutions to complex issues.

Another crucial aspect is the need for mutual respect and cooperation. Every nation has its own unique history, culture, and values, and it is essential to acknowledge and respect these differences. By working together and recognizing each other’s strengths, we can overcome challenges and build a more peaceful and prosperous world.

In addition, it is vital to address the root causes of conflicts and instability. This includes addressing issues such as poverty, inequality, and human rights violations. By tackling these underlying issues, we can create a more stable and just world, where peace can thrive.

The recent Russia-U.S. summit was a positive step towards improving relations between two major global powers. However, it is crucial to remember that peace is not something that can be achieved overnight. It requires continuous efforts and a commitment from all nations to work together towards a common goal.

In conclusion, Peskov’s statement serves as a reminder that the pursuit of peace is an ongoing process, and the world remains far from achieving it. However, it also highlights the importance of international cooperation, dialogue, and mutual respect in overcoming the challenges and achieving a more peaceful world. Let us all work towards this goal, for the sake of future generations and the betterment of humanity.
