Today, on December 20th, the Mamã Madalena Shelter and the Innovation and Development Center for Inclusion in the Urban Districts of Cazenga and Benfica received a donation of essential goods, including both perishable and non-perishable food items, clothing, beds, and toys. This donation was part of a social responsibility initiative by MINEA. The primary goal of this act of solidarity was to create moments of companionship and support for the underprivileged children in these centers, as part of the festive spirit of the year 2023.
The Mamã Madalena Shelter was among the initial beneficiaries of this philanthropic effort and currently provides housing for approximately 90 children. Established by Mamã Madalena Catué on May 15th, 2021, the shelter comprises 7 dormitories (some of which are still under construction), a kitchen, two bathrooms, a school offering education from 1st to 9th grade, a playground, and a recreation room. Located in the Cazenga district in the Kima Kieza area, the Mamã Madalena Shelter accommodates youth from various regions of Angola.
Following this, attention turned to the Innovation and Development Center for Inclusion in the urban district of Benfica. Presently, the center caters to 115 beneficiaries and features 3 literacy classrooms, an arts and drawing room, a computer room, facilities for kitchen and table assistant training, a hairdressing training room, a family psychological support room, as well as rooms for occupational therapy, speech therapy, and behavioral therapy.
The event was graced by the presence of His Excellency Minister of Energy and Water, João Baptista Borges, CEO of ENDE, Eng. Hélder de Jesus Garcia Adão, officials from MINEA, and representatives from companies supporting this noble cause, including CMEC, CR20, HUANTONG, ANGOLA INDUSTRY, DAR ANGOLA, José e Rode, Ossiyeto, Seth e Lis, Sinohydro, Odebrecht, MCA, Dar Angola, CGGC, and ELECNOR.
