California’s Newsom Tells Trump to Send Soldiers into Louisiana, Mississippi

August 30, 2025
in Americas

California Governor Gavin Newsom has made a bold statement, calling on President Donald Trump to send troops into Louisiana and Mississippi in order to combat crime. Newsom, a Democrat, made the remarks during a press conference on Thursday, claiming that Republican-led states are more dangerous and in need of federal intervention.

The governor’s comments come in the midst of a heated debate over crime rates in the United States, with both sides of the political spectrum offering their own solutions. However, Newsom’s suggestion of sending soldiers into other states has sparked controversy and raised questions about the role of the federal government in addressing crime.

In his statement, Newsom directly addressed President Trump, saying, “If you are serious about stopping crime, then send troops into Louisiana and Mississippi. These states have some of the highest crime rates in the country and it’s time for action.” He went on to claim that the Republican-led states have failed to effectively address crime and that federal intervention is necessary.

Newsom’s call for troops to be sent into other states has been met with criticism from both sides of the political aisle. Some have accused him of politicizing the issue of crime and using it as a way to attack Republican-led states. Others have questioned the effectiveness of sending soldiers into these states and whether it is an appropriate use of federal resources.

However, Newsom remains firm in his stance, stating that the safety and well-being of citizens should be the top priority. He argues that the federal government has a responsibility to step in when states are unable to effectively address crime and protect their citizens.

The governor’s comments have also sparked a larger conversation about the root causes of crime and the best ways to address it. While some believe that tougher law enforcement and stricter punishments are the solution, others argue that investing in education, mental health services, and addressing systemic issues such as poverty and inequality are more effective in reducing crime rates.

Regardless of the differing opinions on how to address crime, one thing is clear: the safety and security of citizens should be a top priority for all levels of government. It is important for leaders to work together and find solutions that will effectively reduce crime and protect communities.

In response to Newsom’s statement, President Trump has not yet commented. However, it is likely that his administration will carefully consider the governor’s suggestion and weigh the potential benefits and consequences of sending troops into other states.

In the end, it is important for all leaders to put aside political differences and work towards finding solutions to the issue of crime. Whether it is through federal intervention or other means, the safety and well-being of citizens should always be the top priority. Let us hope that Governor Newsom’s call for action will spark productive discussions and lead to effective solutions in the fight against crime.
