Dem Rep. Subramanyam: Musk Likely Committed Crimes, Once in Power Dems Will Investigate

May 30, 2025
in Americas

Representative Suhas Subramanyam (D-VA) has accused Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) of committing crimes on Thursday during an appearance on MSNBC’s “The Weeknight.” The allegations came as a shock to many, as Musk is widely known as a visionary entrepreneur and innovator.

Subramanyam, who is a member of the House Judiciary Committee and the House Oversight Committee, claimed that Musk had violated various laws and regulations while running the DOGE. He also alleged that Musk had used his position to further his own personal interests, at the expense of the American people.

During the interview, Subramanyam stated, “We have reason to believe that Elon Musk has committed various crimes while serving as the head of the DOGE. We have seen evidence of misuse of funds, conflicts of interest, and other unethical practices. This cannot be allowed to continue unchecked.”

The accusations against Musk and the DOGE stem from a recent audit conducted by the House Oversight Committee. The audit found several irregularities and discrepancies in the DOGE’s financial records, raising concerns about the department’s operations.

Subramanyam also criticized the DOGE’s lack of transparency, claiming that it was difficult to obtain information about the department’s activities and expenditures. He stated, “There is a serious lack of transparency within the DOGE, making it difficult for Congress to properly oversee its operations. This is a serious issue and needs to be addressed immediately.”

The representative further added that if the Democrats were to come into power, they would launch a full investigation into the DOGE and Musk’s actions. He stated, “Once we are in power, we will thoroughly investigate these allegations and hold those responsible accountable for their actions. The American people deserve to know the truth.”

The accusations made by Subramanyam have sparked a debate among politicians and the public alike. While some are calling for a thorough investigation, others are coming to Musk’s defense, stating that he has been a pioneer in the field of technology and has contributed significantly to the economy.

One of the key areas of concern for Subramanyam is the DOGE’s involvement in the controversial cryptocurrency, Dogecoin. The DOGE has been accused of manipulating the market and causing fluctuations in the value of Dogecoin, resulting in significant losses for investors.

Musk, who is a vocal supporter of Dogecoin, has denied any wrongdoing and has stated that the DOGE’s involvement in the cryptocurrency was purely for research purposes. He tweeted, “The DOGE’s involvement in Dogecoin was strictly for research purposes and to promote innovation in the field of cryptocurrency. We have followed all laws and regulations and have nothing to hide.”

The accusations made by Subramanyam have also raised concerns about the future of the DOGE and its potential impact on the American economy. The DOGE was established in 2018 with the goal of streamlining government operations and reducing wasteful spending. However, the recent allegations have cast a shadow over the department’s ability to fulfill its objectives.

In response to the allegations, the DOGE has released a statement stating that they are fully cooperating with the House Oversight Committee’s audit and are committed to addressing any concerns raised. They also stated that they have always followed all laws and regulations and have been transparent in their operations.

While the accusations made by Subramanyam have yet to be proven, they have brought to light the need for greater transparency and accountability within the government. It is essential for government departments to operate ethically and in the best interest of the American people.

In conclusion, the allegations made by Representative Suhas Subramanyam against Elon Musk and the DOGE are serious and require further investigation. However, it is important to remember that these are just allegations and have not yet been proven. As a society, we must strive for transparency and accountability in all aspects of government, and it is the responsibility of our elected officials to ensure that this is achieved.
