In the latest episode of the UK Travel Planning Podcast, host Tracy sits down with special guest Nathan Pickle to discuss his recent trip to London with his wife, Sara. Despite facing unexpected challenges, Nathan and Sara were able to make the most of their visit and create unforgettable memories. In this episode, Nathan shares his top five London highlights and offers valuable tips for travelers.
The trip began with a bit of a hiccup as the couple’s flight was affected by an airport strike. However, Nathan and Sara didn’t let this dampen their spirits and quickly adapted their plans. As Nathan explains, “We were disappointed at first, but we didn’t want to let it ruin our trip. We decided to make the most of our time in London and see as much as we could.”
Their first highlight was taking a black cab ride through the city. Nathan describes it as a quintessential London experience, “We were able to see all the iconic landmarks like Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, and the London Eye. Our driver was also very knowledgeable and gave us some interesting facts about the city.” The black cab ride is not only a fun way to see the city, but it also provides a convenient mode of transportation for tourists.
Next on their list was a visit to the British Museum. Nathan and Sara were blown away by the vast collection of artifacts from around the world. “It was incredible to see pieces of history from ancient civilizations all in one place. We could have spent hours there, but we had to prioritize our time,” says Nathan. The museum is free to enter and is a must-visit for anyone interested in history and culture.
Another highlight for Nathan and Sara was a tour of the Warner Bros. Studio where the Harry Potter films were made. As huge fans of the series, they were thrilled to see the actual sets and props used in the movies. “It was like stepping into the wizarding world. We even got to try butterbeer, which was surprisingly delicious,” Nathan recalls. The tour is a must-do for any Potterhead and offers a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the beloved films.
Nathan and Sara also made sure to visit some of London’s famous markets, including Camden Market and Borough Market. “We loved the vibrant atmosphere and the variety of food and goods available. It was a great way to experience the local culture and support small businesses,” says Nathan. The markets are also a great place to find unique souvenirs and gifts to bring back home.
Last but not least, Nathan and Sara couldn’t leave London without seeing a West End show. They chose to see the award-winning musical, “Hamilton,” and were blown away by the performances and production. “It was a truly unforgettable experience. The talent on stage was incredible, and we were singing along the whole time,” says Nathan. With a variety of shows to choose from, a trip to London is not complete without catching a performance in the West End.
Nathan’s trip to London may have had a rough start, but it ended up being a fantastic experience thanks to his positive attitude and willingness to adapt. As he advises, “Don’t let unexpected challenges ruin your trip. Embrace them and make the most of your time in this amazing city.” With so much to see and do, London truly has something for everyone, and Nathan’s top five highlights are just the tip of the iceberg.
So, if you’re planning a trip to London, be sure to take Nathan’s advice and make time for a black cab ride, a visit to the British Museum, a tour of the Warner Bros. Studio, a stroll through the markets, and a show in the West End. And don’t forget to tune in to the UK Travel Planning Podcast for more travel tips and inspiration. Happy travels!
