Waltz: Trump Administration Seeking ‘Full Dismantlement’ of Iran’s Nuclear Program

in Americas

In a recent interview on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” National Security Adviser Mike Waltz made a bold statement about the Trump administration’s efforts towards Iran’s nuclear program. According to Waltz, President Donald Trump is actively working towards the “full dismantlement” of Iran’s nuclear program, a move that has been met with both praise and criticism.

Waltz’s comments come at a time of heightened tensions between the United States and Iran. The Trump administration has been vocal about its concerns regarding Iran’s nuclear capabilities and has taken a hardline stance against the country. This has led to the reimposition of sanctions and the withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

In the interview, Waltz emphasized that the Trump administration’s goal is not just to limit Iran’s nuclear program, but to completely dismantle it. He stated, “We’re not just looking to put a Band-Aid on this. We’re looking for a full dismantlement of their nuclear program.” This statement reaffirms the administration’s commitment to preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.

The Trump administration’s stance on Iran’s nuclear program has been met with criticism from some who argue that the JCPOA was an effective way to limit Iran’s nuclear capabilities. However, the administration believes that the deal was flawed and did not go far enough in addressing Iran’s other destabilizing activities in the region.

Waltz also addressed concerns about the recent escalation of tensions between the two countries, stating that the administration is not seeking a war with Iran. He emphasized that the goal is to change Iran’s behavior and prevent them from becoming a nuclear power. He stated, “We’re not looking for a war with Iran. We’re looking to change their behavior.”

The Trump administration’s approach to Iran has been met with mixed reactions, but there is no denying that their efforts towards dismantling Iran’s nuclear program are commendable. The administration has been clear in its stance that Iran must not be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons, and they are taking concrete steps towards achieving this goal.

One of the key steps taken by the administration was the withdrawal from the JCPOA in 2018. The deal, which was negotiated by the Obama administration, lifted economic sanctions on Iran in exchange for limits on their nuclear program. However, the Trump administration argued that the deal did not address Iran’s ballistic missile program and its support for terrorist organizations.

Since then, the administration has imposed tough economic sanctions on Iran, crippling their economy and putting pressure on the regime to change its behavior. The sanctions have been effective in limiting Iran’s ability to fund its nuclear program and have forced them to come to the negotiating table.

In addition to economic sanctions, the Trump administration has also taken a strong stance against Iran’s aggressive actions in the region. This includes the recent killing of top Iranian general Qasem Soleimani, who was responsible for numerous terrorist attacks and destabilizing activities in the Middle East.

The Trump administration’s efforts towards dismantling Iran’s nuclear program have also been supported by key allies, including Israel and Saudi Arabia. Both countries have long been concerned about Iran’s nuclear ambitions and have welcomed the administration’s tough stance.

In conclusion, National Security Adviser Mike Waltz’s statement on “Face the Nation” reaffirms the Trump administration’s commitment to preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. The administration’s approach may be controversial, but there is no denying that their efforts towards dismantling Iran’s nuclear program are commendable. With economic sanctions and strong diplomatic measures, the administration is working towards a safer and more stable Middle East.
