Don Lemon to Megyn Kelly: ‘Go F*ck Yourself, Racist’

February 26, 2025
in Americas

In a recent social media post, former CNN personality Don Lemon unleashed a fiery response to conservative political commentator Megyn Kelly. Lemon’s outburst came after Kelly expressed her joy over the end of Joy Reid’s MSNBC show. In his rant, Lemon not only told Kelly to “go f*ck yourself” but also labeled her as “racist.” This exchange between the two media personalities has sparked a heated debate about the state of political discourse in the media.

The incident began when Kelly took to Twitter to express her happiness over the cancellation of Reid’s show. She wrote, “Congrats to @JoyAnnReid on her new time slot at MSNBC! I’ll be watching!” This seemingly harmless tweet was met with a harsh response from Lemon, who replied, “You know, you are on the wrong side of history. Go f*ck yourself, racist.”

The use of profanity and the accusation of racism in Lemon’s response have caused quite a stir on social media. Many have criticized Lemon for his language and for making such a serious accusation without any evidence. On the other hand, some have applauded Lemon for standing up against what they perceive as Kelly’s racist views.

But what is the root of this heated exchange between Lemon and Kelly? It seems to stem from their differing political ideologies. Lemon, a well-known liberal, has been vocal about his support for progressive causes and has often criticized conservative viewpoints. Kelly, on the other hand, is known for her conservative views and has been a vocal supporter of former President Donald Trump.

This clash of ideologies is not new in the media landscape. In fact, it has become a common occurrence in recent years. The rise of social media has given media personalities a platform to express their opinions freely, often leading to heated debates and personal attacks. While healthy debate and differing opinions are essential for a functioning democracy, the use of derogatory language and personal attacks only serve to divide us further.

In this particular case, Lemon’s use of profanity and the accusation of racism against Kelly is not only unprofessional but also counterproductive. It only serves to distract from the real issues at hand and creates unnecessary animosity between the two media personalities. It also sets a bad example for their followers and fans, who may see this as an acceptable way to engage in political discourse.

Moreover, the use of such language and accusations only serves to undermine the seriousness of real instances of racism. Throwing around the term “racist” without any evidence or context diminishes its impact and makes it harder to address real issues of racism in our society.

It is also worth noting that this incident is not the first time Lemon has used profanity on air. In 2018, he used the same expletive while discussing the Trump administration’s immigration policies. While some may argue that this is Lemon’s way of expressing his frustration and passion, it is important to remember that as a public figure, he has a responsibility to maintain a level of professionalism and respect.

In the end, this exchange between Lemon and Kelly serves as a reminder of the importance of civil discourse and respectful communication, especially in the media. As media personalities, they have a significant influence on their audience, and it is crucial for them to use their platform responsibly. Instead of resorting to personal attacks and name-calling, they should focus on having meaningful discussions and debates that can lead to positive change.

In conclusion, the recent exchange between Don Lemon and Megyn Kelly is a reflection of the current state of political discourse in the media. It highlights the need for respectful communication and the dangers of using derogatory language and personal attacks. As responsible citizens, it is our duty to engage in healthy debates and discussions, even when we disagree with someone’s views. Let us strive to create a more civil and respectful society, both online and offline.
