We are proud to announce that we have become a founding member of EHRI-UK – the national body representing Holocaust-related collections in the United Kingdom. This is a significant step towards honoring the memory of the victims of the Holocaust and preserving their stories for future generations.
Alongside us, the other founding members of EHRI-UK are the Wiener Holocaust Library, the Holocaust Research Institute at Royal Holloway, University of London and the Parkes Institute at the University of Southampton. Together, we share a common goal of promoting and supporting research on the Holocaust, while also raising awareness and educating the public about this dark period in history.
EHRI-UK is a branch of the European Holocaust Research Infrastructure (EHRI), a pan-European initiative that aims to connect and facilitate access to Holocaust-related archives and collections across the continent. With our involvement in EHRI-UK, we are now part of a larger network of institutions dedicated to preserving the memory of the Holocaust and promoting Holocaust education.
As a founding member of EHRI-UK, we will have access to a wealth of resources and expertise from our fellow members. This will greatly support our efforts in preserving and promoting our own collection of Holocaust-related materials. In turn, we will also be able to contribute our knowledge and resources to the wider EHRI network.
But our involvement in EHRI-UK goes beyond just access to resources. It is also a testament to our commitment towards honoring and remembering the victims of the Holocaust. The Holocaust was one of the most horrific and tragic events in human history, and it is our duty to ensure that the stories of those who suffered and perished are never forgotten.
With EHRI-UK, we aim to create a central hub for Holocaust-related collections in the United Kingdom. This will make it easier for researchers, educators, and the general public to access and utilize these valuable resources. We also hope to collaborate with other EHRI branches to create a more comprehensive and connected network of Holocaust-related collections across Europe.
Our involvement in EHRI-UK is just one of the many ways we are actively working towards remembrance and education about the Holocaust. Through our collection of materials, we aim to provide a deeper understanding of the events and the impact it had on individuals, families, and communities. We also organize and support educational programs and exhibitions to raise awareness and promote dialogue about the Holocaust.
We are honored to be a part of EHRI-UK and look forward to working closely with our fellow members to achieve our common goals. We urge other institutions and organizations with Holocaust-related collections to join us in this important endeavor. Together, we can ensure that the memory of the Holocaust remains alive and relevant for generations to come.
In conclusion, our involvement in EHRI-UK is a significant milestone for us in our efforts to preserve and promote the memory of the Holocaust. With our fellow founding members, we are determined to create a strong network of Holocaust-related collections in the UK and beyond. We invite everyone to join us in this important mission and be a part of the effort to remember and learn from the past.
