Mark Kelly: We Don’t Have ‘Operational Control’ Over Border, But Harris ‘Had a Lot of Success’

in Americas

On Wednesday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ) spoke about the ongoing issue of border control and the efforts being made to address it. He stated that it is crucial for the United States to gain “operational control” over the border and that both he and Vice President Kamala Harris are aware of this fact. He also mentioned that the Senate border bill, which was recently introduced, would have helped achieve this goal.

Senator Kelly’s remarks come at a time when the issue of border control has been a hot topic in the political arena. The influx of migrants at the southern border has been a cause for concern, and the Biden administration has been facing criticism for its handling of the situation. In light of this, Senator Kelly’s comments shed light on the efforts being made to address the issue and the need for a comprehensive solution.

The Senator’s statement that we need to gain “operational control” over the border is a sentiment shared by many Americans. It is essential to have a secure and well-managed border to ensure the safety and security of our nation. The influx of migrants not only poses a threat to our national security but also puts a strain on our resources and infrastructure. Therefore, it is imperative to have a system in place that effectively manages the flow of people across the border.

Senator Kelly also acknowledged that Vice President Harris has been working towards achieving this goal. Her recent trip to the Northern Triangle countries, where she addressed the root causes of migration, is a testament to her commitment to finding a long-term solution to the issue. The Senator’s statement highlights the importance of having a united front in addressing the issue of border control.

Furthermore, Senator Kelly mentioned the Senate border bill, which would have helped gain “operational control” over the border. The bill, which was introduced by a bipartisan group of Senators, aimed to provide funding for border security and address the root causes of migration. It also included measures to improve the processing of asylum claims and provide humanitarian aid to those in need. Unfortunately, the bill did not pass, but it serves as a reminder of the efforts being made to address the issue.

In conclusion, Senator Kelly’s remarks on the need for “operational control” over the border and the efforts being made to achieve it are a positive sign. It shows that our leaders are aware of the issue and are working towards finding a solution. The Senator’s acknowledgment of Vice President Harris’s efforts and the introduction of the Senate border bill are steps in the right direction. It is crucial for our nation to have a secure and well-managed border, and it is heartening to see our leaders taking action towards this goal. Let us hope that these efforts will lead to a comprehensive and long-term solution to the issue of border control.
