As part of the Angolan Government’s objectives in the PDN to provide electricity access to the entire population and improve social conditions, the “Rural Electrification Project of Mussulo” was inaugurated on Friday, March 22. The ceremony was presided over by the Minister of Energy and Water, João Baptista Borges, accompanied by the Governor of Luanda Province, Manuel Homem, and senior officials from the Energy sector, the Provincial Government, and guests.

The document was signed by the President of the Board of Directors of ENDE, Hélder de Jesus Adão, responsible for the project, and the main contractor of Marck Cables, Elisio Augusto.

The project launch will cover the neighborhoods of Buraco, Ponta da Barra, Pior, Cambaxi, Mussulo Centro, Macoco, Farol das Palmeirinhas, and Tapo.

This initiative will benefit approximately 21,600 families, including the installation of 26 PTs, 3,600 household connections, and public lighting at 950 points, improving the quality of life for residents.

It’s worth noting that the implementation of the electricity grid will lay the foundations for strengthening tourism activities, developing the fishing sector, and reducing pollutants through clean energy sources.

In his speech, the minister emphasized that the electrification of Mussulo would resolve many of the population’s problems. He also mentioned that the President of the Republic had directed that Mussulo should have access to electricity and that the project would be completed by the end of this year.

Regarding the Water sector, João Baptista Borges highlighted that the water supply problem would soon be resolved with a pipeline from Ramiros.

The Governor of the Province, Manuel Homem, called on the population to preserve these public assets and report acts of vandalism.

After the ceremony, the officials visited the Mussulo market and the medical center. To conclude the activities in Mussulo, the Governor activated the circuit breaker for the public lighting connection.
