On November 15th, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo took part in the XV National Ordinary Congress of the Autonomous Confederation of Workers and Employees of Mexico (CATEM), where she lauded the solidarity among its members and her own initiative. The former Chief of Government of Mexico City voiced her backing for the integration of diverse societal sectors ahead of the 2024 elections.
During the gathering, Sheinbaum underscored the significance of worker welfare, highlighting its correlation with national prosperity, a sentiment that garnered applause from attendees. Moreover, they rallied behind her in the days leading up to her official registration as a pre-candidate for the presidency.
Sheinbaum also administered the oath to the inaugural Labor Committees of CATEM’s Fourth Transformation Defense, which are slated to be established in a quantity of 10,000. These committees seek to ensure dignified lives for workers, necessitating collaboration from entrepreneurs who have backed President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and his motto “For the good of all, first the poor.”
The congress saw the presence of Senator and former presidential hopeful Ricardo Monreal, who has aligned himself with Sheinbaum’s endeavor. Monreal echoed Sheinbaum’s plea to foster a positive rapport with workers to safeguard additional labor rights.
Pedro Haces Barba, Senator and General Secretary of CATEM, underscored the pivotal moment in the nation’s history and reiterated his support for Sheinbaum to perpetuate the Fourth Transformation.
The XV National Ordinary Congress of CATEM also saw the participation of Morena’s president, Mario Delgado Carrillo, and several governors, including Mara Ledezma, Marina del Pilar Ávila, Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla, Miguel Navarro, and Sergio Salomón.
Apart from their involvement in the CATEM congress, both Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and Mario Delgado Carrillo took to social media to highlight their leadership in convening a meeting with the nine candidates chosen by the party for various federal entities. This inaugural gathering aimed to fortify the Morena movement in readiness for the elections on June 2nd.
