Exclusive: HUD Sec’y Turner Announces Crackdown on Illegal Aliens in Public Housing

February 21, 2026
in Americas

HUD Secretary Scott Turner recently appeared on “The Alex Marlow Show” to discuss the issue of illegal immigration. In the interview, Turner announced a new proposed rule that will crack down on illegal aliens living in public housing.

Turner began by addressing the decades-old loophole in the regulations that allowed mixed-status households to receive public housing benefits. This loophole allowed families with both citizens and non-citizens to live in public housing, even if the non-citizens were in the country illegally.

But with the new proposed rule, Turner and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) are taking a stand against this injustice. The rule, known as “Qualified Citizens,” would require all members of a household to have eligible immigration status in order to receive public housing benefits.

This move by HUD is a crucial step in ensuring that American citizens are prioritized when it comes to public housing. As Turner stated, “We want to make sure that those who are paying into the system, those who are citizens, are the ones who are receiving the benefits.”

The proposed rule will not only protect the rights of American citizens, but it will also help to address the issue of illegal immigration. By ensuring that public housing benefits are only given to those who are eligible, the rule will discourage illegal aliens from coming to the United States in search of these benefits.

Turner also emphasized that this rule is not meant to be punitive towards families with mixed immigration status. Instead, it is a necessary step to ensure that the limited resources of public housing are used for those who truly need it – American citizens and legal immigrants.

The Secretary also addressed the potential backlash from those who may oppose the rule. He stated, “We have to have a balanced approach. We have to make sure that we’re taking care of American citizens and make sure that we’re not putting undue burden on them.”

This sentiment was echoed by Alex Marlow, who pointed out that this is not a partisan issue, but rather a common-sense approach to protecting American citizens. Turner agreed, stating that the rule is not about politics, but about fairness and protecting the interests of American citizens.

As the interview continued, Turner also discussed the importance of proper vetting and background checks for those seeking public housing benefits. He emphasized that this is not only necessary for the safety and security of American citizens, but also for the integrity of the public housing system.

The proposed rule has already received support from many politicians and citizens alike. Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) praised the rule, stating, “The Trump administration is right to close this loophole that has allowed illegal aliens to live in public housing at the expense of American citizens.”

This sentiment was also reflected in the comments section of the Breitbart article, where many readers expressed their support for the new rule.

In conclusion, the new proposed rule by HUD is a much-needed step in addressing the issue of illegal immigration and protecting the rights of American citizens. By closing the mixed-status household loophole, the rule will ensure that public housing benefits are used for those who truly need it – American citizens and legal immigrants.

As Secretary Turner stated, “We have to make sure that we’re taking care of American citizens first.” And with this proposed rule, HUD is doing just that – prioritizing the needs and rights of American citizens.
