Sultan bin Ahmed visits Huawei R&D Centre and SMG in China

His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, recently visited the Huawei Research and Development Centre and Shanghai Media Group (SMG) in Shanghai, People’s Republic of China. This visit highlighted the strong bilateral relations between the UAE and China and marked the commitment of both countries to further strengthen their cooperation in various fields.

During his visit, His Highness was welcomed by Mr. Vincent Yang, President of Huawei Middle East, and Mr. Li Jingtian, President of SMG, along with other top officials from both companies. The visit provided the perfect platform for Huawei and SMG to showcase their technological advancements and innovative strategies to His Highness, who was impressed by their achievements.

His Highness began his visit at the Huawei Village, also known as the Huawei Global Innovation Center, where he was given a detailed insight into the company’s latest 5G technology and its potential impact on the world. He also interacted with the R&D team at Huawei, who demonstrated their cutting-edge solutions in the fields of cloud computing, smart city development, and artificial intelligence.

His Highness expressed his appreciation for the innovative work being done at the Huawei Village and emphasized the benefits of such advancements to enhance the quality of life and economic growth in Sharjah and the UAE as a whole.

His Highness then visited the SMG headquarters, where he was given a warm reception by the management and staff. During the tour, he was shown the state-of-the-art studios and production facilities of SMG, including its newsroom, broadcasting studios, and digital media platforms.

Mr. Li Jingtian, President of SMG, highlighted the company’s achievements and its efforts to expand its global presence, particularly in the Middle East region. He also commended the strong relationship between the UAE and China and thanked His Highness for his visit and support.

In response, His Highness praised SMG for its world-class facilities and technological advancements, which have made it one of the leading media organizations in China and the world. He also highlighted the importance of media in promoting cultural exchange and understanding between nations.

The visit concluded with a signing ceremony for a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Sharjah Media Council and SMG, which aims to enhance cooperation and knowledge sharing in the fields of media and broadcasting. The MoU also includes the exchange of expertise and training programs for media professionals from both countries.

Speaking about the MoU, His Highness stated, “This agreement is a testament to the strong and growing relationship between Sharjah and China. It will foster greater collaboration between our media industries and pave the way for cultural exchange and understanding between our two nations.”
