Putin Says Ukraine War Would Not Have Started If Trump Were President

August 16, 2025
in Americas

Russian President Vladimir Putin made a bold statement on Friday, declaring that if it were not for current US President Joe Biden, the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine would have never started. According to Putin, the world would have been a different place if Donald Trump had been re-elected as President in 2020.

This statement was made during a press conference in Moscow, where Putin addressed the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. He stated that tensions between the two countries have been escalating since the 2014 Maidan Revolution in Ukraine, which led to the ousting of President Viktor Yanukovych and the annexation of Crimea by Russia.

However, Putin firmly believes that if Trump had been in power when the conflict arose, the situation would have been different. He stated that Trump would have handled the situation in a much more diplomatic and peaceful manner, rather than the aggressive approach taken by the Biden administration.

The Russian President praised Trump’s leadership skills and his ability to maintain strong and cordial relations with other countries, including Russia. He mentioned that during Trump’s term, there were no major conflicts or tensions between the US and Russia, and both countries were able to work together on important global issues.

On the other hand, Putin criticized Biden’s stance towards Russia, stating that the current US administration has been constantly provoking and instigating tensions between the two nations. He also accused the US of intervening in the internal affairs of Ukraine and trying to influence its decision-making process.

Putin’s comments come at a time when tensions between Russia and Ukraine continue to escalate. In recent months, there have been numerous reports of increased military activity on both sides, with clashes occurring in the disputed Donbass region. This has raised concerns among the international community, with many fearing that the conflict could escalate into a full-scale war.

The Russian President’s statement has sparked mixed reactions from the international community, with some supporting his claims and others dismissing them as baseless. However, many have acknowledged that Trump and Biden have had very different approaches towards Russia, and this could have played a role in the current state of affairs.

Despite the ongoing tensions, Putin expressed his desire for a peaceful resolution to the conflict. He stated that Russia is willing to engage in dialogue with Ukraine and other countries involved to find a solution that is beneficial for all parties. He also urged the US to reconsider its stance towards Russia and work towards improving relations.

In conclusion, Putin’s remarks have shed light on the stark differences between Trump and Biden’s approaches towards Russia. While Biden continues to take a hard-line stance, Putin believes that if Trump were in power, the US-Russia relationship would have been much more stable, and the conflict with Ukraine could have been avoided. Whether one agrees with Putin’s statements or not, it is clear that the current tensions between Russia and Ukraine require a diplomatic approach and a willingness to engage in dialogue to find a peaceful resolution.
