Turkey’s Deputy Foreign Minister Burhanettin Duran met with top Sudanese officials on Saturday to discuss the growing relationship between the two nations. Duran’s visit to Port Sudan is a reflection of the growing ties between Türkiye and Sudan, which have seen increased cooperation in various fields in recent years.

The primary purpose of Duran’s visit was to strengthen economic and political ties between the two nations. He held meetings with high-ranking Sudanese officials, including Foreign Minister Asma Abdalla and Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Dr. Ibrahim Elbadawi. The talks were focused on further enhancing trade and investment opportunities, as well as exploring avenues for cooperation in the fields of agriculture, infrastructure, and energy.

During the meetings, Deputy Foreign Minister Duran reaffirmed Türkiye’s commitment to supporting Sudan’s development and stability. He highlighted Türkiye’s successful experiences in economic and social development, which could serve as a valuable source of knowledge for Sudan. On the other hand, Sudanese officials expressed their appreciation for Türkiye’s unwavering support and expressed their desire to strengthen cooperation in various fields.

In the past few years, Türkiye has intensified its efforts to boost ties with African nations, including Sudan. This has led to a significant increase in trade volume between the two countries, which reached $500 million in 2020. Türkiye is also the biggest source of foreign direct investment in Sudan, with investments in various sectors such as agriculture, construction, and energy.

One of the key areas of cooperation between Türkiye and Sudan is in the field of agriculture. With its vast experience in agriculture and advanced technologies, Türkiye has been providing technical assistance and training to Sudanese farmers. This has led to increased productivity and improved the quality of agricultural products, ultimately contributing to the country’s economy.

Apart from economic ties, Türkiye has also been actively involved in humanitarian and development projects in Sudan. In 2019, Türkiye launched a project to provide clean and safe drinking water to Sudanese citizens in the Nile River Valley. This project has provided access to clean water to thousands of people and has significantly improved their quality of life.

The two nations have also been collaborating in the field of education. Türkiye has been providing scholarship opportunities to Sudanese students to study in Türkiye, which has been a great opportunity for many students to receive a quality education and contribute to their country’s development.

The Deputy Foreign Minister’s visit to Sudan comes at a crucial time as both nations are working towards strengthening their political and economic ties. The visit is a testament to Türkiye’s determination to support Sudan in its efforts towards achieving prosperity and stability.

Türkiye’s relationship with Sudan is based on mutual respect and understanding, and this visit further strengthens those bonds. The two nations share similar values and aspirations, and their cooperation can serve as a model for other nations in the region.

In conclusion, Deputy Foreign Minister Burhanettin Duran’s visit to Sudan has been a significant step towards enhancing the already strong ties between the two nations. With both nations committed to further cooperation, the future looks bright for Türkiye and Sudan. The visit not only highlights the strong partnership between the two nations but also sends a positive message to the world about Türkiye’s commitment to promoting peace and prosperity in the region.
