In the latest episode of the UK Travel Planning Podcast, host Tracy is joined by Doug for an exciting and informative guide to one of England’s most picturesque cities – Bath. Whether you’re planning a day trip from London or a longer stay, this episode is packed with essential tips to help you make the most of your visit. So buckle up and get ready to explore the charming city of Bath.

Located in the county of Somerset, just 97 miles from London, Bath is a city steeped in history and renowned for its stunning Georgian architecture, Roman baths, and beautiful countryside. As Tracy and Doug will tell you, there is so much to see and do in Bath that one could easily spend a week here and still not cover everything. But fear not, this guide will help you plan your trip and make the most of your time in this enchanting city.

First and foremost, let’s talk about getting to Bath. As mentioned, it is easily accessible from London by train, with a journey time of approximately 90 minutes. If you’re driving, it’s just a 2.5-hour journey on the M4 motorway. Once you’ve arrived in Bath, the best way to explore the city is on foot. The compact city centre makes it easy to navigate, and you’ll get to see all the charming sights along the way.

One of the must-visit places in Bath is, of course, the Roman Baths. Built in the 1st century AD, this is one of the best-preserved ancient Roman spas in the world. The baths are open daily, and we highly recommend getting there early to avoid the crowds. Tracy and Doug suggest booking a guided tour, as it will give you a better understanding of the history and significance of this iconic site.

After soaking in the history at the Roman Baths, take a stroll to the nearby Bath Abbey. This stunning Gothic church, with its towering stained glass windows and intricate architecture, is a sight to behold. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can climb the 212 steps to the top of the tower for a breathtaking view of the city.

No visit to Bath is complete without a visit to the Royal Crescent and the Circus. These two iconic crescents are prime examples of Georgian architecture and offer a glimpse into the city’s past. You can take a self-guided walking tour of the area, or join one of the many guided tours available.

For those interested in art and fashion, the Fashion Museum and the Victoria Art Gallery are worth a visit. The Fashion Museum houses a collection of over 100,000 items of clothing and accessories, while the Victoria Art Gallery showcases a diverse range of paintings, sculptures, and decorative arts.

Bath is also known for its delicious food and drink, and Tracy and Doug have some fantastic recommendations. The Jane Austen Centre’s Regency Tea Room is the perfect spot for a traditional afternoon tea, complete with scones and clotted cream. For a taste of local cuisine, head to the Bath Farmers’ Market, held every Saturday, where you can sample and purchase fresh produce and artisanal products.

If you’re looking for a unique experience, why not visit the Thermae Bath Spa? This award-winning spa offers a rooftop pool with stunning views of the city, along with a variety of spa treatments and packages. It’s the perfect way to relax and rejuvenate after a day of exploring.

For those interested in nature and the outdoors, Bath has plenty to offer. The city is surrounded by beautiful countryside, perfect for hiking, cycling, or even a hot air balloon ride. Tracy and Doug recommend the Bath Skyline Walk, a 6-mile circular walk that takes you through woodlands, meadows, and magical landscapes.

As for accommodation, Bath has a variety of options to suit every budget. From luxury hotels to cozy bed and breakfasts, there’s something for everyone. Tracy and Doug suggest booking in advance, especially during peak season, to ensure you get your preferred accommodation.

Before you leave Bath, make sure to visit the Pulteney Bridge, one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. Built in the 18th century, this picturesque bridge spans the River Avon and is lined with charming shops and cafes. It’s the perfect spot for a leisurely stroll and some souvenir shopping.

As you can see, Bath has something for everyone, and this episode of the UK Travel Planning Podcast is the perfect guide to help you plan your
