CNN’s Enten: Americans Trust Republicans on Foreign Policy

July 28, 2025
in Americas

In a recent interview on “News Central,” CNN’s chief data analyst Harry Enten revealed a surprising statistic – Americans trust Republicans over Democrats when it comes to foreign policy. This revelation comes at a time when tensions with Russia are high and the world is facing numerous global challenges. Despite these circumstances, it seems that the American people have faith in the Republican party to handle foreign affairs.

This finding may come as a shock to many, especially given the current political climate. With the ongoing investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election and the controversial policies of the current administration, one would assume that the Democrats would have the upper hand in terms of foreign policy trust. However, according to Enten, this is not the case.

So why do Americans trust Republicans on foreign policy? One possible explanation is the party’s long-standing reputation for being strong on national security. Republicans have always been seen as tough on issues of defense and protecting the country’s interests abroad. This perception has been reinforced by the party’s consistent support for a strong military and their stance on issues such as immigration and border security.

Another factor that may contribute to this trust is the current state of the Democratic party. In recent years, the party has been divided on foreign policy issues, with some members advocating for a more interventionist approach while others push for a more isolationist stance. This lack of unity may have eroded the public’s confidence in the party’s ability to handle foreign affairs effectively.

It is also worth noting that the American people tend to give the benefit of the doubt to the party in power. With Republicans currently holding the majority in both the House and the Senate, it is natural for them to be seen as the party responsible for foreign policy decisions. This may have influenced the public’s perception of the party’s competence in this area.

However, it is important to remember that trust is not easily gained and can be quickly lost. The Republican party must continue to prove itself worthy of this trust by making sound and responsible decisions in the realm of foreign policy. As Enten himself stated, “trust is a fragile thing, and it can be lost very quickly.”

In light of this new information, it is crucial for both parties to work together to address the challenges facing the nation on the global stage. It is not a matter of which party is better, but rather how they can work together to ensure the safety and security of the American people.

In conclusion, the American people have spoken – they trust Republicans on foreign policy. This may come as a surprise to some, but it is a testament to the party’s reputation for strength and security. However, this trust must not be taken for granted. The Republican party must continue to prove itself worthy of this trust by making responsible and effective decisions in the realm of foreign affairs. And as for the Democrats, they must work towards a more unified and cohesive approach to regain the trust of the American people. Only by working together can we overcome the challenges that lie ahead and ensure a safer and more secure future for our nation.
