Mike Sommers: The Left’s Climate Hysteria Is Crumbling as Energy Reality Sets In

June 25, 2025
in Americas

In a recent conversation with Breitbart News’s Washington Bureau Chief, Matt Boyle, American Petroleum Institute President Mike Sommers made a bold statement – the tide is turning. After years of being bombarded with climate hysteria, Sommers believes that Americans are finally waking up to the truth about energy and rejecting the left’s doomsday climate narrative.

For far too long, the left has been pushing a fear-based agenda, claiming that the world is on the brink of an environmental catastrophe. They have used this fear to push for drastic and often unrealistic solutions, such as the Green New Deal, that would have a devastating impact on our economy and way of life. But according to Sommers, this narrative is starting to crumble as Americans begin to see the reality of the energy industry.

Sommers points out that the United States has made great strides in reducing carbon emissions, despite the fact that we are one of the world’s leading producers of oil and natural gas. This is due in large part to the development of new technologies and innovative solutions that have made our energy production cleaner and more efficient. In fact, the U.S. is leading the world in reducing carbon emissions, while countries like China and India continue to increase their emissions.

But beyond just reducing emissions, the energy industry is also providing countless jobs and boosting our economy. According to Sommers, the oil and natural gas industry supports over 10 million jobs and contributes over $1 trillion to the U.S. economy each year. This is something that should not be taken lightly, especially in a time when our economy is struggling due to the pandemic.

Sommers also highlights the fact that the U.S. is now energy independent, meaning we no longer have to rely on other countries for our energy needs. This not only strengthens our national security but also allows us to have more control over our energy prices. This is a far cry from just a few decades ago when we were heavily dependent on foreign oil and subject to their price fluctuations.

Despite these facts, the left continues to push their climate hysteria, trying to convince Americans that we need to drastically reduce our energy production and rely solely on renewable sources. But as Sommers points out, this is simply not a realistic solution. Renewable energy sources, while important, cannot currently meet our energy demands on their own. We need a balanced approach that includes all forms of energy production, including oil and natural gas.

And it seems that Americans are starting to see the truth. According to a recent poll by the Pew Research Center, only 44% of Americans believe that climate change is a major threat, down from 59% just a few years ago. This shift in public opinion is a clear indication that Americans are starting to see through the left’s fear-based tactics and are embracing the reality of the energy industry.

In conclusion, Mike Sommers is confident that the tide is turning when it comes to the left’s climate hysteria. Americans are starting to reject their doomsday narrative and are embracing the energy reality that has taken hold in the United States. The energy industry is not the enemy, but rather a crucial part of our economy and national security. It’s time to stop the fear-mongering and have a rational conversation about our energy needs and the best way to meet them. And with leaders like Mike Sommers at the helm, we can be confident that the truth will prevail.
