✨ Trip at a Glance: Overview of the Highlights of Britain Trip 🌸
Spring in Britain is a season that is truly magical. The longer days, the blooming flowers, and the fewer crowds make it the perfect time to explore this beautiful country. And what better way to experience it than with a trip that highlights the best of Britain? That’s why my husband Doug and I are thrilled to be hosting the Backroads Highlights of Britain trip.
This trip is designed to give you a taste of everything that makes Britain so special – from its charming villages to its bustling cities, from its rich history to its stunning landscapes. We have carefully curated an itinerary that will take you on a journey through the heart of Britain, allowing you to experience its diverse culture, traditions, and natural beauty.
Our trip will begin in London, the vibrant capital city of England. From the iconic Big Ben to the majestic Buckingham Palace, London is a city that never fails to impress. We’ll take a stroll through the charming streets of Notting Hill, visit the famous Tower of London, and indulge in some traditional fish and chips at a local pub. And of course, no trip to London is complete without a visit to the world-renowned British Museum, where you can marvel at the treasures of ancient civilizations.
Next, we’ll head to the picturesque Cotswolds, a region known for its quaint villages, rolling hills, and charming cottages. We’ll stay in a traditional English manor house and explore the surrounding countryside on foot or by bike. You’ll have the chance to visit the charming village of Bourton-on-the-Water, often referred to as the “Venice of the Cotswolds,” and the historic town of Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare.
From the Cotswolds, we’ll make our way to the stunning Lake District, a region of breathtaking natural beauty. We’ll stay in a cozy inn nestled in the heart of the Lake District and spend our days hiking through the picturesque landscapes, taking in the stunning views of the lakes and mountains. We’ll also visit the charming village of Grasmere, where you can try the famous Grasmere gingerbread and visit the former home of poet William Wordsworth.
Our journey will then take us to Scotland, where we’ll explore the rugged Highlands and the vibrant city of Edinburgh. We’ll take a scenic drive through the Scottish countryside, stopping at picturesque villages and ancient castles along the way. In Edinburgh, we’ll visit the famous Edinburgh Castle, stroll along the Royal Mile, and sample some traditional Scottish dishes.
As our trip comes to an end, we’ll head back to England and make our way to the stunning city of Bath. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is known for its beautiful Georgian architecture, Roman baths, and charming streets. We’ll take a walking tour of the city, visit the famous Bath Abbey, and relax in the natural hot springs at the Thermae Bath Spa.
Our Highlights of Britain trip will come to a close in the vibrant city of Bristol, where we’ll bid farewell to this beautiful country. But we’re sure that the memories and experiences from this trip will stay with you for a lifetime.
