Raskin: Big Beautiful Bill Will Not Survive Given GOP’s Disarray

June 6, 2025
in Americas

Representative Jamie Raskin (D-MD) has made a bold statement on MSNBC’s “The Last Word” regarding President Donald Trump’s “big, beautiful” spending bill. According to Raskin, given the current political dynamics within the GOP, the bill is unlikely to survive.

Raskin’s comments come at a time when the Republican party is facing significant disarray. With the recent impeachment trial and the ongoing fallout from the Capitol riots, the GOP is struggling to find its footing and unite behind a common agenda. This has left many wondering if Trump’s spending bill, which he has touted as a major accomplishment, will be able to make it through the political turmoil.

In his interview, Raskin highlighted the challenges that the GOP is facing, stating that “the current political dynamics within the GOP are not conducive to passing any major legislation, let alone a big, beautiful spending bill.” He went on to say that the party is deeply divided and that there is a lack of leadership and direction.

Raskin’s comments are not without merit. The Republican party has been in a state of chaos since the 2020 election, with many members still refusing to accept the results. This has led to infighting and a lack of focus on important issues, such as the economy and the pandemic.

Furthermore, Trump’s spending bill has faced criticism from both sides of the aisle. Democrats have argued that it does not do enough to address the needs of struggling Americans, while some Republicans have expressed concerns about the bill’s impact on the national debt.

Despite these challenges, Raskin remains optimistic about the future. He believes that with the right leadership and a willingness to work together, the GOP can overcome its current disarray and pass meaningful legislation. However, he also acknowledges that this will not be an easy task.

In the end, Raskin’s comments serve as a reminder that political divisions and chaos can have real consequences for the American people. The current state of the GOP is hindering progress and preventing important legislation, like Trump’s spending bill, from moving forward.

It is now up to the Republican party to come together and find a way to move past their differences. The American people are counting on their elected officials to put aside their personal agendas and work towards the greater good. As Raskin stated, “the fate of this bill and the well-being of our country are in the hands of the GOP.”

In conclusion, Representative Jamie Raskin’s comments on MSNBC’s “The Last Word” serve as a wake-up call for the GOP. The disarray within the party is hindering progress and preventing important legislation from being passed. It is time for the Republican party to put aside their differences and work towards a common goal for the betterment of the American people. Only then can we truly see a “big, beautiful” spending bill come to fruition.
