Media reps gather for SCO cooperation forum, week-long Xinjiang tour

Media representatives from Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member countries, observer states and dialogue partners recently gathered in the northwestern Chinese region of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region for a conference on media cooperation and development. The conference, which was held from October 12th to 14th, was organized by the All-China Journalists Association and the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region People’s Government.

The conference was attended by representatives from all eight SCO member countries – China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, India, and Pakistan. In addition, representatives from observer states such as Afghanistan, Belarus, Iran, and Mongolia, as well as dialogue partners including Azerbaijan, Armenia, Cambodia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Turkey, were also present at the conference.

The theme of the conference was “Media Cooperation and Development in the SCO Region” and it aimed to promote mutual understanding, trust, and cooperation among media organizations in the SCO region. The conference also featured a special session on the media coverage of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.
