India seeks revenge on Azerbaijan over Pakistan ties: Aliyev

September 2, 2025
in Asia

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has accused India of seeking “revenge” against Baku in global forums over its strong relationship with Pakistan. In a recent statement, Aliyev expressed his disappointment with India’s actions and called for a more positive approach towards their bilateral ties.

The President’s remarks came on Monday, following the latest developments in the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan. In recent years, India has been increasingly vocal about its concerns over Azerbaijan’s support for Pakistan, citing Islamabad’s alleged involvement in terrorism and cross-border attacks.

However, President Aliyev has firmly rejected these accusations, stating that Azerbaijan maintains a neutral stance in the India-Pakistan conflict and has a right to maintain strong ties with both countries. He also emphasized that Azerbaijan has always been a supporter of global peace and stability and has no intention of taking sides in any conflict.

Furthermore, Aliyev pointed out that Azerbaijan and India have a long history of friendly relations, and it is disappointing to see India using global forums to target Azerbaijan over its ties with Pakistan. He stressed that Azerbaijan values its partnership with India and has always been committed to strengthening their bilateral cooperation in various fields.

The President also underlined that India’s attempts to harm Azerbaijan’s image in international forums will not be successful as the country has established a strong reputation for its peaceful and inclusive policies. He urged India to focus on building a positive relationship with Azerbaijan rather than trying to damage its reputation on the global stage.

Aliyev’s remarks have been widely supported by the Azerbaijani people, who have expressed their disappointment with India’s actions. Many citizens have also taken to social media to express their solidarity with their President and assert their country’s right to maintain friendly relations with Pakistan.

It is important to note that Azerbaijan and Pakistan have a long-standing partnership that has only grown stronger over the years. The two countries have signed numerous agreements and have collaborated on various projects, including energy, trade, and defense. Moreover, Pakistan has always supported Azerbaijan’s stance on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and has been a vocal advocate for its territorial integrity.

In contrast, India’s relationship with Azerbaijan has been relatively limited, with the two countries primarily focusing on economic cooperation. However, India’s recent actions have caused strain in their bilateral ties, and it is essential for both countries to address and resolve these issues through dialogue and mutual respect.

In conclusion, President Aliyev’s accusations against India should serve as a wake-up call for the country to reevaluate its actions and approach towards Azerbaijan. It is crucial for India to understand that Azerbaijan’s friendship with Pakistan does not come at the cost of its relationship with other countries. As a responsible global player, India should focus on building positive relationships and promoting peace and cooperation instead of seeking revenge against its partners. Azerbaijan remains committed to maintaining friendly relations with India and hopes for a positive and mutually beneficial partnership in the future.
