Trump Stands by Calling Tim Walz ‘Retarded’: ‘There’s Something Wrong with Him’

December 1, 2025
in Americas

President Donald Trump has once again stirred controversy with his recent comments about Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. In a recent interview, Trump stood by his remarks in which he called Walz “retarded” and even went on to say that there is “something wrong” with the governor.

The comments were made during a rally in Minnesota on Thursday, where Trump was campaigning for the upcoming 2020 presidential election. While addressing the crowd, Trump referred to Walz as the “2024 Democrat vice presidential nominee” and proceeded to call him “retarded.”

These comments have sparked outrage and criticism from both Democrats and Republicans, with many calling them offensive and derogatory. However, Trump has refused to back down from his words and has even doubled down on them.

In an interview on Sunday, Trump defended his remarks, stating that there is “something wrong” with Walz and that he stands by his words. He also added that he has “great respect” for people with disabilities, but he believes that Walz is not fit to hold any political office.

This is not the first time that Trump has used derogatory language towards his political opponents. In the past, he has referred to Senator Elizabeth Warren as “Pocahontas” and has called former Vice President Joe Biden “sleepy Joe.” However, his recent comments about Walz have sparked a new wave of criticism and have raised concerns about his behavior as a leader.

Many have condemned Trump’s use of the word “retarded,” which is considered offensive and outdated by the disability community. The American Association of People with Disabilities has stated that the use of this word is “harmful and disrespectful” and perpetuates negative stereotypes about people with disabilities.

Governor Walz has also responded to Trump’s comments, stating that they are “disappointing and hurtful.” He also added that he will not engage in name-calling and will continue to focus on serving the people of Minnesota.

This incident has once again brought attention to the issue of ableism in politics and the need for more inclusive language. It is important for leaders to set an example and use respectful language, especially when addressing their opponents.

In a time where the country is facing numerous challenges, it is crucial for leaders to come together and work towards finding solutions. Using derogatory language and name-calling only creates further division and distracts from the real issues at hand.

As citizens, it is our responsibility to hold our leaders accountable for their words and actions. We must demand that they show respect and empathy towards all individuals, regardless of their political beliefs or disabilities.

In conclusion, President Trump’s recent comments about Governor Walz have once again sparked controversy and raised concerns about his behavior as a leader. It is important for leaders to use respectful language and set an example for the rest of the country. Let us focus on the real issues and work towards a more inclusive and united future.
