Nothing justifies targeting children in Gaza, Greek PM Mitsotakis says

October 1, 2025
in Europe

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has recently expressed his concern over Israel’s actions in Gaza, cautioning that it could have negative consequences on the country’s relationships with its allies and hinder the prospects of a two-state solution. In a statement, Mitsotakis emphasized the importance of finding a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict and urged Israel to refrain from any further military tactics.

The current situation in Gaza has been a cause of great distress and anguish for the people of Palestine and Israel. The violence and bloodshed have only escalated in recent weeks, with both sides suffering heavy casualties. As a result, the international community has been closely monitoring the situation, with many leaders calling for an immediate ceasefire and a return to negotiations.

Among these leaders is Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who has been a vocal advocate for peace and stability in the region. In a recent interview, he expressed his concerns over Israel’s military actions in Gaza, stating that it could have severe repercussions on the country’s relationships with its allies. He also stressed the importance of finding a peaceful solution to the conflict, as any further escalation could have devastating consequences.

Mitsotakis’ cautionary words come at a crucial time when tensions are running high in the region. The recent violence in Gaza has not only resulted in the loss of innocent lives but has also caused damage to vital infrastructure, including hospitals and schools. The Prime Minister’s concerns are not unfounded, as the international community has already expressed its disapproval of Israel’s military tactics.

Moreover, Mitsotakis also highlighted the potential impact of Israel’s actions on the prospects of a two-state solution. The idea of a two-state solution, with Israel and Palestine coexisting peacefully, has been a long-standing goal of the international community. However, with the recent events in Gaza, this solution seems to be slipping further away. The Prime Minister’s warning serves as a reminder that any actions taken by Israel could have a significant impact on the future of the region.

It is essential to note that Greece has always maintained a strong relationship with Israel, based on mutual respect and cooperation. However, Mitsotakis’ statement reflects the country’s commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region. As a member of the European Union, Greece has always been a staunch supporter of the two-state solution and has consistently called for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

In light of the recent events, it is crucial for all parties involved to exercise restraint and work towards de-escalating the situation. The loss of innocent lives and the destruction of infrastructure can never be justified, and it is the responsibility of all leaders to prioritize the well-being of their people. As Mitsotakis rightly pointed out, there can be no military solution to this conflict, and only through dialogue and negotiations can a lasting peace be achieved.

In conclusion, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ cautionary words serve as a reminder of the importance of finding a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict in Gaza. His concerns over the potential erosion of support from allies and the jeopardization of a two-state solution should be taken seriously by all parties involved. It is time for all leaders to put aside their differences and work towards a lasting peace that benefits both Israel and Palestine. Let us hope that Mitsotakis’ words will be heeded, and the region can finally see an end to the violence and suffering.
