At least 12 dead, 17 missing as Storm Bualoi batters Vietnam

October 1, 2025
in Asia

At least 12 people have lost their lives and 17 fishermen are still missing after Tropical Storm Bualoi hit central Vietnam, according to state media reports on Monday.

The storm, which made landfall on Sunday, caused widespread damage and destruction in the provinces of Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan, and Khanh Hoa. The strong winds and heavy rains triggered landslides, damaged houses, and disrupted power supply in many areas.

The casualties were reported in Ninh Thuan province, where six people were killed and 17 fishermen went missing after their boats capsized in the rough seas. The local authorities have launched search and rescue operations to locate the missing fishermen and provide assistance to those affected by the storm.

Tropical Storm Bualoi, the seventh storm to hit Vietnam this year, has also caused significant damage to the agricultural sector. Crops such as rice, corn, and fruit trees have been destroyed, leaving many farmers without a source of income.

The Vietnamese government has taken swift action to provide aid and support to the affected communities. Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has instructed local authorities to prioritize the safety of the people and provide necessary assistance to those in need. The government has also allocated funds for emergency relief and recovery efforts.

In addition, the Vietnamese Red Cross Society has mobilized volunteers and resources to assist in the relief efforts. They have set up temporary shelters and provided food, water, and medical supplies to those affected by the storm.

The Vietnamese people have also shown their resilience and solidarity in the face of this natural disaster. Many individuals and organizations have come forward to offer their support and donations to help those in need. The spirit of unity and compassion has been evident in the efforts to rebuild and recover from the devastation caused by Tropical Storm Bualoi.

This is not the first time that Vietnam has been hit by severe weather conditions. The country is prone to typhoons and tropical storms, which often cause significant damage and loss of life. However, the government and the people have shown their ability to overcome these challenges and emerge stronger.

The Vietnamese government has also been proactive in implementing measures to mitigate the impact of natural disasters. This includes building stronger infrastructure, improving early warning systems, and providing disaster preparedness training to the local communities.

The recent disaster caused by Tropical Storm Bualoi serves as a reminder of the importance of disaster preparedness and the need for continuous efforts to build resilience in vulnerable communities.

As the recovery efforts continue, it is crucial for the international community to come together and support Vietnam in rebuilding and restoring the affected areas. The Vietnamese people have shown their strength and determination in the face of adversity, and with the support of the global community, they will be able to overcome this challenge and emerge even stronger.

In conclusion, the casualties and damage caused by Tropical Storm Bualoi in central Vietnam are a tragic reminder of the destructive power of natural disasters. However, the swift response and support from the government and the people have shown that Vietnam is a resilient nation that can overcome any challenge. Let us continue to stand in solidarity with the people of Vietnam and support them in their efforts to recover and rebuild.
