Controversial White House Official Tyler Cherry Hates Israel: Old Tweets

June 25, 2024
in Americas

Tyler Cherry, the newly-appointed White House Associate Communications Director, has been making headlines for his controversial and divisive tweets. But it seems that his controversial views extend beyond race and into the realm of international politics, specifically when it comes to Israel.

Cherry’s anti-Israel rants on social media have resurfaced, causing even more controversy and backlash. Many are questioning how someone with such extreme views could hold a high-level position in the White House.

The tweets in question date back several years, but they have resurfaced in light of Cherry’s recent appointment. In one tweet, he wrote, “Israel is a terrorist state and should be treated as such. #FreePalestine.” In another, he called for a boycott of Israeli products and businesses.

These tweets have sparked outrage and condemnation from both sides of the political spectrum. Pro-Israel groups have called for Cherry’s resignation, while others have defended his right to free speech.

But this is not the first time Cherry’s views on Israel have caused controversy. In 2014, he shared a video on social media that claimed Israel was responsible for the 9/11 attacks. He also retweeted a post that referred to Israel as a “colonialist, apartheid state.”

Cherry’s anti-Israel stance is not only concerning, but it also goes against the United States’ long-standing support for Israel. The US has been a strong ally of Israel for decades, providing aid and support in times of conflict.

It is also worth noting that Cherry’s views do not align with those of President Biden, who has repeatedly expressed his commitment to the US-Israel relationship. In fact, during his campaign, Biden promised to strengthen ties with Israel and condemned anti-Semitism.

So how did someone with such extreme and divisive views on Israel end up in a high-level position in the White House? This is a question that many are asking, and it raises concerns about the vetting process for White House staff.

Cherry’s appointment has also sparked a larger conversation about the rise of anti-Semitism in the US. According to the Anti-Defamation League, anti-Semitic incidents have been on the rise in recent years, with a 12% increase in 2020 alone.

It is important to address and condemn all forms of hate and discrimination, including anti-Semitism. And having someone with such extreme views on Israel in a position of power only adds fuel to the fire.

In response to the backlash, Cherry has issued a statement, saying that his views have evolved over the years and that he regrets his past tweets. He also stated that he fully supports the US-Israel relationship and condemns all forms of hate and discrimination.

But many are not convinced by his apology, especially given the timing of his statement. It seems more like a damage control tactic rather than a genuine change of heart.

The fact remains that Cherry’s past tweets and views on Israel are deeply concerning and should not be taken lightly. As a White House official, he has a responsibility to represent the values and beliefs of the administration, and his past actions call into question his ability to do so.

In conclusion, the controversy surrounding Tyler Cherry’s anti-Israel tweets is just another example of the importance of thoroughly vetting individuals before appointing them to high-level positions. It also highlights the need to address and condemn all forms of hate and discrimination, including anti-Semitism. As a nation, we must continue to stand against hate and work towards a more inclusive and united society.
