At the exclusive Enero Costanera venue in Buenos Aires, Ellerstina Yellow Rose was unveiled for the upcoming polo season in Argentina, with Gonzalo and Nicolás Pieres, Bautista Bayugar, and Ignatius Du Plessis present as the team’s new additions for this season. The players introduced the new official jersey and shared their expectations for the year ahead.
During the event, Gonzalo Pieres expressed his enthusiasm for joining the new team, stating, “We’re eager to kick off in the best possible way and aim to go as far as we can.”
This season, the renowned Ellerstina team, winners of numerous championships including multiple editions of the Argentine Polo Open, is supported by Yellow Rose, a polo club founded in 1996 in Punta del Este by Jorge ‘Corcho’ Rodríguez, who was among the many celebrities present at the event alongside his partner Vero Lozano.
Continuing its commitment to the growth of international polo in Argentina and Uruguay, Yellow Rose has expanded its polo organization in Argentina since 2021 and formed an alliance with Ellerstina, a young, fresh team with potential, enthusiasm, and strong organizational support that aids in the development of players and their future prospects.
With Facundo Pieres absent, having decided to join the La Natividad quartet this season, the team is composed of Nicolas Pieres, Bautista Bayugar, Gonzalo Pieres, and “Nachi” Du Pressis, with a handicap of 35 goals.
Expectations are high for the Argentine Triple Crown, which includes prestigious tournaments such as the Hurlingham Open, Tortugas Open, and Argentine Polo Open Championship.
Ellerstina was joined by its sponsors for this presentation: Yellow Rose, Jeep, Gibson, and RUS, along with additional support from AlUla, Stella Artois, Sierra de los Padres, Enero Restaurant, Johnnie Walker, Clos de los Siete, and Aconcagua.
In addition to their success in local tournaments, Yellow Rose is known for its social commitment and support for equestrian sports. They regularly organize charity events that combine high-goal polo with music and solidarity, attracting renowned polo players and raising funds for social causes. Prominent polo players from Argentina, including Polito Pieres, Ignacio Figueras, Gonzalo Pieres, Bartolomé “Barto” Castagnola, Mariano Aguerre, Facundo Pieres, and Pablo Llorente, have participated in these events.
In 2021, the club hosted an event in Punta del Este sponsored by the Argentine Polo Association and the Uruguayan Polo Association, bringing together the world’s top polo players for a charity match benefiting the Marabo Sports and Social Club in General Jorge ‘Corcho’ Rodríguez, Buenos Aires Province.
Yellow Rose’s social commitment is further demonstrated through collaborative efforts with the Compromiso Foundation and the Municipality of General Jorge ‘Corcho’ Rodríguez, where it is headquartered. Together, they provide free training for individuals over 16 years old in digital trades such as Digital Marketing, E-commerce, and Digital Programming.
The 2023 season marks a significant milestone for the club as it becomes the main sponsor of Ellerstina in the Triple Crown, emphasizing the shared values of family, friendship, and sports promoted by Yellow Rose.
